Shout out to Maschine and Knocksquared for showing how to do this FL and Maschine method btw. I wish FL would make it easier to host midi the way Ableton Does with Maschine, so that you can use Ableton simply as more of a sequencer and Maschine to sketch and print ideas. Stil, It's still better than any other method I've seen to link Maschine and FL. Also, the sounds are still coming from Maschine's mixer so I can't just route them to Fl's mixer, they have to stay on that original channell Maschine was placed in. While the piano roll in FL is a lot better, Ableton's default plugins are amazing and the workflow is a lot better, which makes song writing more fun for me imo. I can route all my drums and sounds right from Maschine into FL, but I can't put a given sound from Maschine into piano roll mode which hurts the functionality somewhat. Honestly I'm probably going to switch from FL to Ableton. Maybe 3.0 will have better integration than it is now.Īs is, I open Maschine into a a mixer channel slot, and then use Fl's Midi out plugin and set each individual sound to an individual channel, 16 for each group and 16 groups. I sincerely hope that 2.5 (or 3.0) has a larger piano roll like FL's, but I doubt that. I think alot of Maschine's features (or lack thereof) are purposefully implemented or taken out so that you need to use the hardware. Comparing studio One 4 to Ableton Live 10 is sure to be a feisty one. It's so easy to just experiment with drums and melody ideas. I'm unsure how long ableton makes the transfer happen if its immediate or not.Click to expand.FL has the best piano roll in the business, of all the daws, and the best step sequencer for creating great drum patterns. How can you authorize ableton without restarting the software and losing work It’s true that FL Studio now has macOS compatibility, but Ableton has had both macOS and Windows compatibility from the start this is beneficial because if you travel with a MacBook and have a Windows PC at home, you can use both to work on the same project. Music Production Software Recommendation for GNU/Linux.generate humming sound LMMS and Ardour combo might be more apporiate for that kind of job.I would like to be limited, because I believe, that being limited can help your creativity. FL studio is easier to learn for beginners, whereas Ableton has more depth for professional EDM. FL Studio has more MIDI editing tools, whereas Ableton has less precise controls. I am aware, that the 'best' option in all likelihood would be an actual DAW like LMMS, but I get easily overwhelmed with the options and there is so much to learn. Ableton offers support for multiple monitors but offers less overall flexibility compared to FL Studio. If possible in the terminal but at least with extensive keyboard support. I am interested in a simple tool to make simple music on linux.
Is there a simple music sequenzer or tracker for linux?.It's certainly not as versatile as FL Studio, but it is completely free. I'm using LMMS on Linux Mint and I'm having lots of fun. Here’s some free recording/music making software that I recommend (it’s what I started out on).
